Pregnancy Mehndi – a quick guide – eliminate any myths you’ve heard.

Mehndi during pregnancy is 100% safe using natural henna paste (confirmation obtained by National Health Service Nurse). It does not harm the baby, and nor is it ‘absorbed’ by the baby, as some rumours may suggest. So research and get your facts first! For a peace of mind you could speak to your Midwife or consult your GP. Some artists use oils in their mehndi paste mixture, so please check with the artist prior to applying, just to ensure you aren’t allergic to the oil used. Or the scent of the oil doesn’t make you feel queazy.

Henna can be applied at any stage during the pregnancy, but definitely has more impact in the third trimester when the baby bump is developed more fully. Application can be tiring for the mother, so ensure regular breaks are taken during the process.

The picture attached to this blog shows Tan creating a beautiful pattern for a mum- to- be, it was very special. Whilst applying henna to the baby bump, both felt the baby kick. (Think the little boy was excited too!).

A great picture for baby’s photo album, and fabulous idea for baby showers.
