I’m Tan Chaudhry, a proud British Pakistani hailing from the Midlands, England. My beautiful journey into the world of henna art began in 1996, guided by my late nan. She was more than a teacher; she was a source of inspiration. Watching her craft henna paste from scratch and then adorning herself and her grandchildren left an indelible mark that paved the way for Mehndi by Tan Chaudhry. The rest, as they say, is history! My passion for adorning people, spreading joy through this art, and being part of memorable celebrations has been a driving force in my life. My mission? To share this incredible, centuries-old art form with diverse communities across the globe, fostering inclusivity while preserving tradition and embracing modern elements.
Mehndi, pronounced as ‘Men-dee,’ is the Urdu word for an art form cherished in Pakistan, India, Africa, and the Middle East for over 5,000 years. Initially used for its cooling properties in hot desert climates, it has transcended borders and cultures. In the Western world, it’s more commonly known as ‘henna’ (heh-na). Whether as a hair dye or for adorning the skin with intricate patterns through temporary tattoos, its allure and applications continue to expand.
I offer henna services and training, both in individual and group settings. From weddings, cultural celebrations, and festivals to charity and corporate events, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of it all.
